Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026

1. Who we are

Melbourne Trade HQ (we, us, our) operates the website at melbournetradehq.com.au — a local business directory connecting Melbourne homeowners with trade and contractor businesses. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information in two ways:

  • Business submissions. When you submit or claim a business listing, we collect your business name, address, phone number, website, hours, and your contact details (name and email) used to communicate with you about the listing.
  • Automatically collected data. We collect standard server logs and analytics data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source) to operate and improve the directory. We do not use tracking cookies beyond what is necessary to run the site.

3. How we use your information

We use the information collected to:

  • Publish and maintain accurate business listings on the directory
  • Contact you to verify or update your business information
  • Respond to your enquiries and support requests
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Melbourne Trade HQ platform
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Business listing information

Business listings on this directory may be sourced from publicly available information (such as Google Maps). If your business appears on this directory and you did not submit it yourself, you may contact us to update, correct, or remove the listing at any time.

5. Communications

We may contact business owners whose listings appear on the directory to invite them to confirm or claim their listing. These communications are transactional in nature. Every message we send will include a clear way to opt out of future contact. We comply with Australia's Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

6. Data storage and security

Your information is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (hosted in the United States). We apply industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls to protect your data. By using this site, you consent to the transfer of your information to overseas servers as described. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate this site:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery
  • Google Maps — map embeds on business listing pages

Each third-party provider operates under their own privacy policy and data practices. We encourage you to review them.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information
  • Request removal of your personal information from our records
  • Make a complaint about how we handle your personal information

To exercise any of these rights, email us at listings@melbournetradehq.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the directory after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
